猪宝（猪砂）作为传统中药材珍品，近年来收购价格持续攀升，优质品每克可达500-800元。专业收购商主要分布在中药材集散地如亳州、安国等地，形成分级收购网络。市场按品相分为特级（完整球状，直径＞3cm）、一级（片状，重量＞10g）和统货三个等级。收购旺季集中在冬季屠宰期，此时农户供给量占全年70%。值得注意的是，不同产区猪宝价格差异显著，云贵高原产的价格通常比北方产区高30%左右，这与有效成分含量差异有关。
下图便是小编有幸见到的一组猪宝，重465.7克，整体外表布满灰猪毛，经过自然风干，重量基本已经稳定。从其性状、泽上看，已是一味老的样貌，毋庸置疑是同类材中的佳品。“猪宝”之所以被传天价，在于近几年，稀有材突然称为收藏界的宠儿，一度被收藏者们视为瑰宝，其收藏价值也不断被收藏家们发掘出来，市场价值在不断升温，有些的品质上好的能够轻易地卖到几百万的高价。以前不懂的一只小小的猪体内居然能够出现这样一块“瑰宝”，价值居然不菲，现在很多收藏家都在入手这些藏品，到处寻找而不断，甚至愿意深入乡村去寻觅。其中就有马宝、牛宝、狗宝作为中国传统中医材在医书上有记载，是不常用的中。
